Youth in Japan struggle to make a commitment to Jesus Christ by taking the step of making their faith public through baptism. It was a wonderful joy when Manami stood before the church family Sept. 21, and was baptized. A teenager, Manami was in our Sunday School classes and now in our English Classes. She has the blessing of Christian parents. Her commitment to the Lord is strong and we would ask you to continue to pray for her as she grows spiritually.

Please pray for Manami’s friend, Natsuki, also a teenager, to accept the Lord. She is coming faithfully to Sunday School and church. As teens here face all the pressures of youth in the States, we covet your prayers for these young lives.
Seiko, a young mother of 4 little girls, was also baptized on Sept. 21. We have asked you to pray for her before. She is in one of the young mothers’ classes that Jane is teaching. Seiko is quick to testify for the Lord in class and encourages the other mothers to believe in Jesus. Please pray for her husband to also accept the Lord.

In Faith...Alliance work

Day by day, we continue to ask God for revival in Japan. We thank Him for each one who follows Him in baptism.  God is the Lord of the harvest, and has faithfully met needs in our Alliance churches this past month.

inside out

a cultural perspective

“Where will I be buried when I die?” The answer in Japan holds grave consequences. It is a major detail at the forefront of all priorities when the subject of death is discussed. With ancestor worship and reincarnation woven into the minds of Japanese people, elaborate family grave sites are purchased to provide a place for descendants to continue to worship the spirits of those who die. Into this realm of Satan’s deceit, the Church in Japan has taken a stand. It’s a beautiful story of God’s glory.

Short term team ministers to children
A short-term missions team from Somerset Pennsylvania spent several weeks in Japan, ministering to Japanese children and to our own missionary kids at our annual field forum. Three of the team members were returnees, having come last year also!
