(excerpts from a prayer letter)

Higashi Hiroshima, Japan
November 16, 2005

"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." (Eph 3:20-21, NASB)

Dear Friends:

The other day we asked you to "pray for the house churches in Yasuura and Saijo and for the potential one in Daiwa…we need to discover the best way to help each group."  The Lord is beginning to answer your prayers "far more abundantly beyond all that we" asked or thought.  We met recently with the pastor who heads the team for Yasuura and Saijo.  His ideas and plans are far more exciting and full of potential than anything we dreamed of.  More about this later….

We also asked you to "pray for us as we seek ways to reach our area (called Kodani) with the Good News of Jesus…There are no churches of any kind in this region."  After much prayer and discussion, we have sensed the Lord's leading.  The plan is not complicated and leaves the ultimate goal up to the Lord.  Kathy will continue to try to reach neighborhood women through personal contacts and English conversation classes at our house.  But, on a little broader scale, we will attempt to begin evangelistic Bible studies, both in Japanese and English, which will be held at one of the community centers in Kodani once or twice a month.

We don't know anything beyond that yet.  But, that's OK.  The Lord God Almighty Himself is in control; we just have to do our part.  So, what's our part at this point?  Asking you to pray with us for the people in Kodani and for our witness in Kodani.  To put it more specifically, please pray for Ken as he looks next week for the best and most available center to conduct Bible studies.  Believe me; they have had various Shinto and even Buddhist events in these centers, but never a Bible study!

Thank you for praying in the past.  Now, let's pray for Kodani.
