December in Japan is one of the richest months of the year to share the love of Jesus. There is an unusual openness to the Gospel and again this past Christmas, we saw the hand of God working in the hearts of our ministry contacts. In answer to prayer, a number from our neighborhood outreach ministries attended a Christmas concert, hearing the Gospel and receiving Bibles. We praise God that these Bibles are being read.
In addition, we were part of a Kids’ Christmas Pageant which was attended by contacts from our English ministries. Please pray for eternal results in the hearts of all these new seekers.
Small group ministries in Japan continue to be a catalyst for growth and nurturing and evangelism. We praise God for the Tuesday Cell Group that met at our house for a Christmas Celebration. This group is made up of believers and seekers. We have seen God’s miraculous power through prayer, and thank Him for the baptism of a young lady from this group at Christmas. God is also using the Matsubara’s to gently witness to Mrs. Matsubara’s mother (age 90) who came to live with them last fall. They brought her to our Christmas Celebration. She also made a commitment to attend church which is on the 3rd floor of a building. One step at a time, she climbed the steps and has attended 2 services. Please pray for her salvation in 2007!!

Harumi (Tokyo) Christmas Party 41 parents and children gathered for the Christmas Party at the Harumi outreach of the Sayama Alliance Church. The outreach holds several events weekly in a large activity room of a 50 storey apartment tower overlooking central Tokyo and Tokyo Bay. Children and their parents enjoyed singing Christmas carols, decorating cookies and hearing about the origin and meaning behind many common Christmas symbols and decorations. Parents were invited to participate in the Alpha Course held at Harumi, while children were encouraged to become involved in Praise Time on Sundays.

Sunday School kids put on Christmas play | Sunday School kids acted out the Christmas story for the church party as well as the Kids’ Outreach which drew 50 kids as well as many parents. Many un-churched kids from a nearby elementary school heard the Christmas story. |
Ladies Christmas Tea | Six ladies shared about Christmas in their countries. India, the US, Scotland, China, Korea, and Japan were represented. The women spent the second hour making corsages out of newspaper and glue followed by a light lunch. Over 1/3 of the 36 who attended were non-Christians who had been invited by a church friend. |

The Christmas Eve Candle Service was attended by several unsaved family members and several new people, including this little girl who came with her parents - the first time they had ever been to a church.
English students joined our church ladies for a Christmas tea and helped make cookies for the Candle Service.
Every year, the children do a Christmas drama. Most of the Sunday School children are from non-Christian families, and their parents attend the Christmas program.
A ginger bread house decorating contest was one of the fun activities at the church Christmas party. Here, the kids display the houses their teams made (with the help of the adults).
